Verify ownership

Prove that you own your status page's domain, so you can edit its content and your updates show on uptimecard.com.

What verifying unlocks

  • Edit your page: change the words, pictures and prices.
  • Incidents go public: your posts show on uptimecard.com/status/your-domain. Before that they show only on your page's own address.
  • Reply to visitor reports as the owner.
  • Together with a live custom domain: Innovator for free.

Ways to verify

In the editor, open the ownership panel (Verify in the setup checklist does the same). Choose one way:

WayWhat you doNeeds
Use your own web address (recommended)Put the page on status.yourdomain.com. It verifies you at the same time. See Custom domains.Access to your DNS
DNS recordAdd a TXT record named _uptimecard-challenge with the value the panel shows (it starts with uptimecard-domain-verification=).Access to your DNS; works with any domain
Upload a filePut the file the panel gives you at /.well-known/uptimecard-verification.txt on your website.A live website on this domain
Paste a tagAdd <meta name="uptimecard-domain-verification" content="…"> to your homepage's head.A live website on this domain

The panel shows the exact values with copy buttons. Add them, then press the check button.

Domains that cannot be verified

Addresses on shared hosts, such as yourname.github.io or something.vercel.app, cannot be verified, because many people share the same domain. Also, a domain already verified by another account cannot be verified again.

Staying verified

Keep the record, file or tag in place

Hand verifications are checked again every month. If the proof is gone for a while (at least 14 days and 3 checks in a row), the verification lapses.
