How we work out if a service is down

UptimeCard tracks about 960 popular websites and apps, free to check. Each one has its own page at uptimecard.com/status/ followed by its domain. A page combines three sources:

Official incidents

Incident updates from the service itself, when it publishes them, or from a verified owner of the website.

User reports

Problems reported by people using the service, shown as a 48-hour chart so you can see whether a problem is widespread.

Automatic checks

Websites with a monitored status page are checked regularly from our own servers.
