Incidents and uptime
Why posting an incident can lower your page's uptime, and when it does not.
What counts as downtime
| Recorded as | Counts as downtime? |
|---|---|
| Major outage (down for everyone) | Yes |
| Partial outage (not working properly, failing for some) | Yes |
| Degraded (slow) | No |
| A fix is out / fixed / planned work | No |
On a Manual page
- Nothing checks the website, so while an outage incident is open, UptimeCard records the affected parts as down for each check slot: every 3 minutes on Free, 2 on Plus, 1 on Innovator.
- It stops counting when you post “A fix is out” or “It's fixed”, and at the latest after 48 hours.
On an automatic page
The checks decide. While an outage incident is open, every check during it also counts as down, so your post and the bars agree.
See it on the bars
The days of the incident show red parts in the uptime bars: Uptime history. To post without lowering uptime, describe it as slow, or use Planned work for work you announced.
