Sharing Your Information

We only share your PII within UptimeCard and with trusted third-party service providers that help us provide, improve, and protect our Services. These providers are contractually obligated to safeguard your data and only use it for the purposes we specify. These include:

  • Stripe: For secure payment processing.
  • Google Analytics: For website analytics and understanding user behavior.
  • AWS (Amazon Web Services): For cloud hosting and infrastructure.
  • Resend: For transactional email delivery (e.g., account notifications, password resets).

We enter into agreements (such as Data Processing Addenda where required) with these third-party service providers requiring them to protect your data and comply with applicable data protection laws.

Community Status Reporting Data: Regarding our Community Status Reporting feature, aggregated and anonymized data (such as the number of reports for a specific third-party service over time, general problem types reported, or general geographical trends based on anonymized IP data) is made publicly available on our Website. We do not publicly share Personal Identifiable Information of individual reporters (like specific IP addresses or user IDs if logged in) in connection with this aggregated public data.

We may also disclose your information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

International Data Transfers

Our Services are hosted and operated globally, including in the United States. If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, or the UK, your PII may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries outside of the EEA, Switzerland, or UK, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

When we transfer your PII outside these regions, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data, such as by using Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission or UK authorities, or by relying on an adequacy decision where applicable. By using our Services, you acknowledge these transfers.

Data Retention

We retain your PII only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including to provide our Services, comply with our legal obligations (e.g., for tax and accounting purposes), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Account information is generally kept as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter in case you decide to re-activate the Services or for backup and legal purposes.

For community-submitted outage reports via our Community Status Reporting feature, associated IP addresses may be retained for a limited period (e.g., up to 90 days) for abuse detection, rate limiting, and prevention purposes, after which they may be anonymized or deleted. Aggregated, anonymized report data (which does not identify individuals) may be kept indefinitely for trend analysis and historical reporting.

Your Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • The right to access your personal data.
  • The right to request correction of inaccurate data.
  • The right to request deletion (erasure) of your data.
  • The right to restrict or object to our processing of your data.
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal).
  • The right to data portability (request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format).
  • The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (data protection authority) in your jurisdiction if you believe our processing of your personal data infringes applicable law.

To exercise these rights (except lodging a complaint, which you do directly with the authority), please contact us at support@uptimecard.com. We will respond to your request in accordance with applicable data protection laws. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures designed to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption, access controls, and secure development practices. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Our Services are not intended for use by children under the age of 16 (or a higher age if stipulated by local law for processing personal data without parental consent). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we may have collected information about a child, please contact us at support@uptimecard.com. We will promptly investigate and delete any information we may have collected about a child under 16.

  • Your individual identity (e.g., email address, specific IP address, or UptimeCard username if logged in) will not be publicly displayed alongside this aggregated data.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you report to the best of your ability and agree not to submit false or misleading reports, as further detailed in our Terms of Service.

You can sign up for UptimeCard using one of the following methods:

  • Google authentication
  • GitHub authentication

When you use third-party authentication providers (Google or GitHub), we only receive the information necessary from them to create and manage your account on our platform (typically your email address and name). Please refer to the privacy policies of these providers for more information on how they handle your data.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services, or applicable laws. The most current version will always be available on our website, and we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. For significant changes, we will notify you by posting a prominent notice on our website or by contacting you directly (e.g., via email if you have an account).
