Post an incident

Tell visitors something is wrong, keep them updated, and close it when it is fixed.

Try it

In the studio, open the page's posts and choose New post (or Post an update in the editor). You build one sentence by tapping its underlined words; the words for visitors are written from it. Publish below, then pick Update to post the next step and finally It's fixed.

The sentence: what is happening

The sentence holds the facts: what is affected, what is happening, since when, where you are with it, and when the next update comes. What you pick decides the status visitors see and whether it counts as downtime:

What is happeningRecorded as

A service we use has a problemIdentified
“A fix is out, we're watching” stops counting downtime, but the incident stays open until you post It's fixed.

The words: three ways to write

  • Write it for me: calm, plain words written from the sentence, with times in UTC. Nothing to type. In the studio it may be fitted to your website when you press Review post; you approve it before it is published.
  • Polish my words: type rough notes, AI tidies them, and you choose the polished version or your original.
  • My exact words: published character for character. Hints warn about all capitals, “!!”, a time without a time zone or a missing next-update promise.

After you publish

  • The post is live within about a minute; until then the list says Publishing….
  • Subscribers are emailed (see Subscribers).
  • A part already in an open incident cannot start a second one; post an update instead.
