How to fix Amplify not working

If Amplify will not work in the middle of a lesson, take a breath: in schools the cause is most often on the school side and quick to fix. Find your situation below. Teachers and students get different advice, and the last line covers what to do in the classroom while it gets sorted.

Jump to what you are seeing

A teacher or student cannot sign in. Amplify has separate sign-in routes (Google, Clever, ClassLink, or an Amplify-created account), and the login page can differ by district.

  1. Sign in the same way you normally do. With Clever, go to learning.amplify.com and pick your district; with ClassLink, use your district's ClassLink portal. Using a different route can open a different account.
  2. If a personal Microsoft account is signed in on the same browser, sign out of it first, then try again.
  3. Make sure the browser accepts cookies, and clear the cache or try a private window, especially on a shared computer or Chromebook.
  4. Errors that come from Google, Clever or ClassLink themselves are for your district IT team to fix, since students cannot reset those accounts.

Programs

A program (for example mCLASS or Amplify Science) shows an error, a blank screen, or content is missing.

  1. A blank screen or an error is very often the school's content filter blocking part of Amplify. Ask your IT team to confirm Amplify's web addresses are allowed on the school network.
  2. Check cookies are accepted in the browser.
  3. Check the program is assigned to the class and the student is in the right class.
  4. Reload after a minute and try another browser; clearing the cache fixes many half-loaded pages.

Technology Integrations

Rostering or sign-in integrations are out of sync, so classes or students are missing or duplicated.

  1. Ask the district administrator to check when the last roster sync ran.
  2. Check the student exists in the source system (Clever, ClassLink or the student information system) and is in the right section.
  3. If you reach Amplify through an LMS such as Canvas or Schoology, test the same student from the direct login to tell the LMS link from the account.
  4. Share an example student and class with support so they can trace it.

Ordering and Payment

An order or payment did not go through, or an invoice looks wrong.

  1. Look for an order confirmation email, including spam folders.
  2. Check that the purchase order number, tax-exempt details and billing contact are correct.
  3. If a payment page failed, try another browser rather than paying twice.
  4. Contact Amplify with the order number so it can be checked before anything is re-submitted.

Shop

The online shop is slow, shows errors or will not let you check out.

  1. Try a private window and another browser.
  2. Check the cart for items that are out of stock or not available for your account.
  3. If the problem is specific to one item, note the product name and contact support.

Support

You cannot reach support, or an answer is slow.

  1. Use the help center at my.amplify.com/help, which has step-by-step articles for login and getting started.
  2. For urgent classroom issues, Amplify's customer care line is 800-823-1969.
  3. State the program, the class, how many students are affected and the exact error, and mention whether it is a known incident.

Still not working?

If it is still not working, ask your teacher or school administrator to contact Amplify Customer Care (800-823-1969) with the school and district name, the program, how many students are affected, and the time it started. Live incident updates are on status.amplify.com.

In the meantime you do not have to lose the lesson: switch to a printed or offline activity from your materials and come back to the digital part later. Student work is saved on Amplify's side, so a short interruption usually does not undo what was already done.
