How to fix DroneDeploy not working
DroneDeploy turns data from drones, 360-degree cameras and ground robots into maps, models and reports in the cloud. This guide covers the software only. Always follow your local flight rules and your drone's own safety procedures. Find your symptom below. Most problems come from a sign-in, an upload, a processing job, or the platform itself.
Jump to what you are seeing
Website Down
The DroneDeploy website does not load for you.
- Open the page in a private window and on another network.
- Check status.dronedeploy.com for an active incident.
- If only your network is affected, ask IT to check the firewall.
Mobile App Down
The mobile app does not open, does not show your flights, or cannot start a flight plan.
- Close the app and open it again, and check the phone has a connection.
- Update the app from your app store.
- Check the app has location permission, since flight planning needs it.
- If the web version works but the app does not, report it with your phone model and app version.
Upload Failed
Images or flight data do not upload. Large files and slow connections are the usual reasons.
- Retry on a stable connection. Large image sets can take a long time over a weak network.
- Upload fewer images at a time, or send the data over a wired connection.
- Check the files are in a supported format and are not damaged.
- If one upload keeps failing, note the file name and send it to support.
Login Failed
Sign-in is refused. Check you are using the account your company set up.
- If the message says the password is wrong, reset it and check spam for the email.
- Check you are signed in to the company account that holds your projects.
- Try a private window to rule out an old session.
Map Not Loading
A map, model or orthomosaic does not show, or stays blank.
- Wait for processing to finish. A map can show as blank while it is still being built.
- Reload the page in a private window with extensions turned off.
- Try another browser, since some blockers stop map images from loading.
- If the map is blank for every project, check the status page and send the project name to support.
Processing Error
A map or model job fails. The processing log usually names the cause, such as a blurred image or too little overlap between photos.
- Open the job's log and read the first error.
- Check the images overlap enough and are not blurred, since weak images can stop processing.
- Check the flight was complete and the image set has no missing photos.
- Process a smaller set of images to test, then send the job ID and the error to support.
API Down
Calls to the DroneDeploy API fail or return an error.
- Check the status code. A 401 or 403 means the token or permission is wrong, a 429 means too many calls, and a 5xx means a platform-side problem.
- Confirm the API token has not been revoked or changed.
- Retry with a growing delay.
- Check status.dronedeploy.com if several calls fail together.
Still not working?
If it still does not work, contact DroneDeploy support through the help option in the app or on dronedeploy.com. Have your company name, the project or flight name, the job ID if there is one, the exact error text, and the time it started with your time zone. Live incident updates are on status.dronedeploy.com.
Most mapping problems come from a connection, an upload still in progress or an image set that needs a check, and they usually clear once that is done. The status page shows live platform incidents, so you can see whether the problem is on DroneDeploy's side.
