Its story

  1. 2017

    Francisco Partners acquired the Comodo certificate authority business in October. The business separated from Comodo Group and began building beyond its SSL core.[8][13]

  2. 2018

    Comodo CA rebranded as Sectigo on November 1. The new name limited market confusion and marked a move beyond SSL into IoT and web security.[8][13]

  3. 2025

    Sectigo PQC Labs launched in February as a platform collaboration for testing post-quantum cryptography. It gave teams a place to try quantum-resistant certificates before they were required.[14]

  4. 2026

    Private PQC arrived inside Sectigo Certificate Manager in April. Teams could issue and manage private post-quantum SSL/TLS certificates with ML-DSA algorithms in their usual workflows.[15]

  5. 2026

    Sectigo Orchestration Gateway reached general availability in August. It automates certificate discovery, issuance, renewal and deployment from one lightweight install as lifespans shrink.[9]

  6. 2026

    Sectigo Quantum Ready launched in September. It discovers cryptographic assets, assesses quantum risk and helps prioritize migration planning.[10]
