Rough guide, not a measurement: each description is written automatically from the site’s technology stack and the site has not confirmed it. A site is counted once, in the first group its description fits (shop, help and docs, blog, marketing site; otherwise the whole site). Descriptions that only guess (“likely”, “may”) are left out.

Who is behind Nuxt.js

From its own pages and public records, with sources

Nuxt.js

since 2016[11]

Its story

  1. 2016

The open-source repository was created in October 2016. It started a Vue framework that has since been developed in the open under the MIT license.[11][3]

  2. 2021

The Nuxt 3 beta arrived after 16 months of work. It put the framework on a new foundation of Vue 3, Vite and Nitro, a rewrite rather than an upgrade.[8]

  3. 2022

Nuxt 3 became stable with first-class TypeScript support and an API guaranteed to stay backward compatible across Nuxt 3. It supports evergreen browsers only, so older browsers were left behind.[8]

  4. 2025

Nuxt 4 arrived in July after a year of real-world testing. It added an app/ directory structure and revised data fetching, and Nuxt 3 kept receiving maintenance until January 2026.[4]

  5. 2025

Nuxt UI v4 merged the free library and the paid Pro library into one completely free library. Teams no longer needed a separate license for the full component set.[3]

  6. 2026

Nuxt 4.5 added Vite 8, Rspack support, experimental SSR streaming and groundwork for Nuxt 5. Builds and rendering gained new options while the next major version took shape.[3]

  7. 2026

Nuxt 4.6 made Nuxt server-agnostic with nuxt/server, rebuilt the typed $fetch and added sessions. The server layer no longer assumes one runtime.[3]
