How to fix Flutterwave not working
Flutterwave takes payments by card, bank transfer, mobile money and other local methods, and sends money out to bank accounts and wallets. A failed payment or transfer touches a real customer, so find your symptom below and start with its quickest check.
Jump to what you are seeing
Website
The Flutterwave website or dashboard does not load for you. It is usually your network or your browser.
- Open the page in a private window and on another network.
- Check status.flutterwave.com for an active incident.
- If a customer reports the same problem on a checkout page, check that checkout in a private window before assuming the platform is down.
Online Checkout
The payment page for your customer does not load, or the payment cannot be completed.
- Open the checkout in a private window with script blockers off. If your account has a test mode, check the flow there first.
- Check which payment methods are offered for the customer's country and currency. A method not available there will not show.
- Ask the customer to try another card or method. If a card is declined, the customer should check with their bank.
- If checkout fails for everyone, check status.flutterwave.com and send the transaction reference to support.
Transfers
A transfer to a bank account or wallet is pending, failed or delayed.
- Check the transfer status on its record. Pending means it is still being processed.
- Check the recipient's account number, bank and name. A wrong detail is the most common reason for a failed transfer.
- Allow for the bank's processing time, especially across borders or around holidays.
- If a transfer is failed or stuck for longer than expected, send the transfer reference to support. Do not send it again until support confirms it failed.
Send Money
Money sent to a person or account is not arriving, or the send action fails.
- Check the amount, currency and recipient details before sending again.
- Check your balance covers the amount and any fee.
- Wait for the status to update before retrying. Retrying a send that is still processing can cause a duplicate payment.
- If the send failed, contact support with the reference.
Event Tickets
The ticket page or payment for an event does not work, so buyers cannot pay for tickets.
- Open the ticket page in a private window. If your account has a test mode, try a test purchase there.
- Check the event is published and that its ticket is on sale.
- Check the payment method is enabled for the ticket's currency and country.
- If buyers report the same error, send the event reference and the exact error text to support.
Still not working?
If it still does not work, contact Flutterwave support through the help option in your dashboard or on flutterwave.com. Have your business name, the transaction, transfer or event reference, the exact error text, and the time it happened with your time zone ready. Never send full card details. Live incident updates are on status.flutterwave.com.
Most payment problems come from a detail in the request, a bank's decision or a method not offered in a country, and they usually clear once that is corrected. The status page shows live platform issues, so you can see when a problem is on the platform's side.
