How to fix Cardconnect not working
CardConnect, a Fiserv company, processes card payments for businesses through terminals, online gateways and links to business software. Merchants and their technicians use it. Find your symptom below. A failed payment affects a real customer, so check its status before you retry. Never share card numbers or merchant credentials in a support message.

Payment Processing
Payments are declined, time out, or do not complete. A decline is often a bank decision, so check the reason first.
- Look at the response or decline code on the transaction. A clear bank reason is not a platform fault.
- Check whether failures affect one card type or every card, and one terminal or every terminal. One pattern points to that cause.
- Check that the amounts, currency and billing details are valid.
- Do not retry a charge until you have checked its status, so the customer is not charged twice.
Login Failed
Sign-in to the merchant portal is refused. Portal users have roles, so access can be removed without the password changing.
- If the message says the password is wrong, reset it and check spam for the email.
- Check you are signing in to the portal your business uses.
- Ask your administrator to confirm your role allows access.
Website Down
The CardConnect website or merchant pages do not load for you.
- Open the page in a private window and on another network.
- Check status.cardconnect.com for an active incident.
- If your payments still run while the website is down, check with a small test payment first.
API Down
Calls to the payment API fail or time out.
- Check the status code. A 401 or 403 means the credentials are wrong or not allowed, a 429 means too many calls, and a 5xx means a platform-side problem.
- Check the merchant ID and credentials match the environment you are calling.
- Retry with a growing delay, and only retry requests you know did not complete.
- Check status.cardconnect.com if several calls fail together.
CardPointe Down
The CardPointe gateway does not respond, or it returns errors for every transaction.
- Check status.cardconnect.com for a gateway incident.
- Check your integration uses the current gateway address for your account.
- Check the timeout in your system is long enough for the gateway, but not so long that it blocks other work.
- If it is down for everyone, send the time and the error text to support.
Terminal Offline
A payment terminal shows as offline, so it cannot take payments.
- Check the terminal has power and a network connection, and that its cable or Wi-Fi is working.
- Restart the terminal, then check that it reconnects.
- Check its settings have not changed recently, and that it is assigned to the right merchant.
- If it stays offline, contact support with the terminal ID and the time.
Mobile App Down
The mobile payment app does not open, or it does not take a payment.
- Close the app and open it again, and check the phone has a connection.
- Update the app from your app store.
- Check the card reader is paired and charged, if the app uses one.
Reporting Issues
A report is blank, slow, or does not match your sales.
- Check the date range and the merchant or terminal filter.
- Check the transactions you expect have settled, since recent sales can take time to appear.
- Reload the report, and send the report name and the dates to support if it stays wrong.
Still not working?
If it still does not work, contact CardConnect support through the help option in the merchant portal or on cardconnect.com. Have your merchant ID, the transaction or request ID, the exact error or response code, the terminal ID if one applies, and the time it happened with your time zone. Never send full card numbers or merchant passwords in a support message. Live incident updates are on status.cardconnect.com.
Most payment problems come from a decline, a terminal connection or a portal setting, and they usually clear once that is checked. The status page shows live platform incidents, so you can see whether the problem is on CardConnect's side.
