Tessian US down?

Forwards to:www.proofpoint.com

Tessian was a UK cybersecurity company, now part of Proofpoint, that used machine learning to protect organisations from email-borne threats and human error. Its cloud email security platform detected advanced phishing, business email compromise and account takeover, prevented employees from sending emails to the wrong recipients or attaching the wrong files, and stopped data exfiltration. Tessian provided in-the-moment warnings that educated users. Following the acquisition, its technology is integrated into Proofpoint's human-centric security portfolio.

How to fix Tessian US not working

Tessian is an email security product, now part of Proofpoint. It warns people about risky emails and misdirected messages, and blocks threats. Email administrators and staff who use the warnings use it. Find your symptom below. Do not turn off the email protection to get a message through without checking it first.

Jump to what you are seeing

Website Down

The Tessian console or website does not load for you.

  1. Open the page in a private window and on another network.
  2. Check us.status.tessian.com for an active incident.
  3. If only your network is affected, ask IT to check the firewall.

Login Failed

Sign-in is refused. Check you are using the company sign-in, such as single sign-on.

  1. Use the sign-in route your company set up.
  2. If the message says the password is wrong, reset it and check spam.
  3. Ask your administrator to confirm your role allows access to the console.

Email Delivery Failed

A legitimate email is held or blocked by the email protection.

  1. Check the quarantine or held messages for your email. The message usually shows the reason it was held.
  2. Ask the recipient to check their spam folder, and confirm the sender address is correct.
  3. If a real message is blocked, ask your administrator to review the rule that held it, rather than turning protection off.

Add-in Error

The email add-in does not load in the mail app, or it shows an error.

  1. Reload the mail app, then check the add-in is installed and turned on.
  2. Update the add-in to the current version.
  3. Try the same mail in a web browser to see whether the add-in is the only problem.

Dashboard Error

A console page shows an error, or a report does not load.

  1. Reload in a private window with extensions turned off.
  2. Check your role allows the page you are opening.
  3. Shorten the date range if the report is blank or slow.

API Down

Calls to the Tessian API fail or time out.

  1. Check the status code. A 401 or 403 means the key or permission is wrong, a 429 means too many calls, and a 5xx means a platform-side problem.
  2. Confirm the API key has not been changed or revoked.
  3. Retry with a growing delay, and check the status page if several calls fail together.

Still not working?

If it still does not work, contact your email security administrator first, since they manage the protection rules and the held messages. For a platform-wide problem, contact Proofpoint support through the help option in the console or on the Proofpoint website. Have your organisation name, the message's date and time, the sender and recipient domains only, the exact error text, and the time it started with your time zone. Do not send the content of emails in a support message. Live incident updates are on us.status.tessian.com.

Most email-protection problems come from a held message, an add-in that needs an update or a rule that is too broad, and they usually clear once that is reviewed. The status page shows live platform incidents, so you can see whether the problem is on the vendor's side.
