How to fix Echo360 not working

Echo360 is a lecture capture and video platform used by universities and organisations. It records lectures, hosts video and live streams, and connects to learning systems. Instructors, students and media staff use it. Find your symptom below. Most problems come from a sign-in, a capture device, an upload or stream setting, or the platform itself.

Jump to what you are seeing

Video Playback

A recording will not play, or it stops and buffers.

  1. Check the recording has finished processing. A new recording can take time before it plays.
  2. Check your connection, and try another network if it keeps stopping.
  3. Try another browser, or a private window with extensions turned off.
  4. If one recording fails for everyone, note its name and the time, and send them to support.

Login Failed

Sign-in is refused. Check you are using the school login, such as single sign-on.

  1. Use the sign-in route your school set up.
  2. If the message says the password is wrong, reset it through the school's login and check spam.
  3. Ask your administrator to confirm your access to the course or room.

Website Down

The Echo360 site does not load for you.

  1. Open the page in a private window and on another network.
  2. Check status.echo360.com for an active incident.
  3. If only your network is affected, ask IT to check the firewall.

Upload Failed

A video does not upload, or it stops partway through.

  1. Check the file format and size are accepted.
  2. Retry on a stable connection. A large file often needs a faster network.
  3. Try a smaller file to see whether size is the cause.

LMS Integration

Echo360 recordings do not show in the learning system, or the link stops working.

  1. Check the integration is still connected, and that the course is linked to the right room or recording list.
  2. Check the recording is shared with that course.
  3. Reload the course page, since a list there can be out of date.

Live Stream

A live stream does not start, drops, or is poor quality.

  1. Check the capture device or encoder is connected and its settings are current.
  2. Check your upload speed, since a weak connection causes drops.
  3. Check the stream is scheduled and set to live for the audience you want.
  4. If the stream fails for everyone, check the status page and tell the event team.

Still not working?

If it still does not work, contact your school's media or IT team first, since they manage rooms and course links. For a platform-wide problem, contact Echo360 support through the help option in the platform or on echo360.com. Have your institution name, the course or room name, the recording or stream name, the exact error text, and the time it started with your time zone. Live incident updates are on status.echo360.com.

Most lecture-capture problems come from a file still processing, a connection or a course link, and they usually clear once that is checked. The status page shows live platform incidents, so you can see whether the problem is on Echo360's side.
