Cypress down?

Cypress is an open source JavaScript testing framework for modern web applications. It allows developers to write end-to-end, component and integration tests that run directly in the browser, with time-travel debugging, automatic waiting, real-time reloads and readable test syntax. Cypress Cloud extends the framework with test recording, parallelization, analytics, flake detection, accessibility checks and UI coverage insights. Front-end developers and QA engineers use Cypress to test web applications quickly and reliably.

How to fix Cypress not working

Cypress is an open source testing tool for web applications. Developers write end-to-end and component tests that run in the browser. Cypress Cloud records test runs, runs tests in parallel, and shows analytics. Find your symptom below. Most problems come from a sign-in or project key, a network or proxy, a test script that no longer matches the page, or the service itself. Check the status page before you change a test that was passing.

Jump to what you are seeing

Dashboard Down

The Cypress Cloud dashboard does not load, or it shows no runs.

  1. Reload in a private window, and check you are in the right organisation and project.
  2. Check www.cypressstatus.com for an incident.
  3. If runs are missing, check whether the run was recorded, then contact support with the run ID and the time.

Test Recording Failed

A test run does not record to Cypress Cloud.

  1. Check the project ID and record key in your set-up are correct, and have not been changed.
  2. Check your build machine can reach Cypress Cloud, and that no proxy blocks it.
  3. Check www.cypressstatus.com, then run one test with recording on to check.

Website Down

The Cypress website does not load for you.

  1. Open the page in a private window and on another network.
  2. Check www.cypressstatus.com for an active incident.
  3. If only your network is affected, ask IT to check the firewall.

Login Issues

Sign-in does not work, or it keeps asking you to sign in again.

  1. Sign in through the same route you used when you created the account.
  2. If the password is refused, reset it through the official site and check spam.
  3. Try a private window to rule out an old session.

API Errors

Calls to the Cypress Cloud API fail or return an error.

  1. Check the status code. An access error usually means the key is wrong, too many calls means you should slow down, and a server error means a service-side problem.
  2. Confirm the key has not been revoked and is for the right project.
  3. Retry with a growing delay, and check www.cypressstatus.com if several calls fail together.

CLI Connection Error

The command-line tool cannot connect to Cypress Cloud, or to the app being tested.

  1. Check the app under test is running, at the address your tests use.
  2. Check your network or proxy settings, and that the command-line tool is up to date.
  3. Check www.cypressstatus.com for a service incident, then run the command again and copy the full error text.

Still not working?

If it still does not work, contact your team's Cypress administrator first, since they manage organisations and projects. For a platform-wide problem, contact Cypress support through the help option on the Cypress website. Have your organisation and project name, the run ID, the exact error text, your Cypress version, and the time with your time zone. Never send record keys, passwords or private code in a support message. Live incident updates are on www.cypressstatus.com.

Most testing-tool problems come from a key, a network setting or a test that no longer matches the page, and they usually clear once that is checked. The status page shows live incidents, so you can see whether the problem is on Cypress's side.
