Astro down?

Astronomer is the company behind Astro, a fully managed data orchestration platform built on Apache Airflow. It lets data engineering teams write, run and monitor data pipelines as code without managing Airflow infrastructure themselves. Astro provides autoscaling, high availability, observability, lineage, alerting, CI/CD tooling and enterprise security across major clouds. Astronomer is also a leading contributor to the Airflow open source project and offers training and certification. Companies use it to power analytics, machine learning and AI workflows reliably at scale.

Overview: A hybrid marketing stack pairing Wix's ecommerce site builder with Astro/Netlify static content and React-powered interactive components.

What stands out

  • The site uses Wix for the main marketing and checkout flow while Astro/Netlify serve static content, indicating a split between business-managed and developer-managed properties.
  • Wix Ecommerce handles subscription payments, reducing the need for custom billing integration in the marketing funnel.
  • React and HeroUI are integrated through Astro islands, allowing rich interactive demos without sacrificing static performance.

Technologies astronomer.io uses

  • Wix eCommerce — Enables subscription checkout and payment processing for the platform's paid plans directly on the marketing site.
  • Netlify — Provides global CDN hosting, continuous deployment, and preview environments for the Astro-built static pages.
  • HeroUI — Supplies pre-built React UI components for interactive product demos and pricing calculators.
  • Astro — Generates fast, SEO-friendly static pages for documentation or blog content, reducing server load and improving performance.
  • Google Analytics — Tracks visitor behavior and conversion funnels to measure marketing effectiveness.
  • Wix — Hosts the main marketing website with Wix's visual builder, allowing marketing team to update content quickly without developers.
  • React — Powers dynamic UI elements such as navigation, signup forms, or interactive feature tours.
  • HSTS — Enforces HTTPS to protect user data and build trust with enterprise customers.
  • Google Tag Manager — Manages analytics and marketing tags without requiring code changes.

How these technologies work together

  • Wix runs on Wix eCommerce — Wix Ecommerce is a built-in Wix feature, so the checkout depends on the Wix platform.
  • HeroUI requires React — HeroUI components are React components, requiring React to render the interface.
  • Astro integrates with Netlify — Astro outputs static HTML that Netlify deploys and serves via CDN with automatic builds.
  • Google Analytics integrates with Google Tag Manager — GTM deploys the Google Analytics tag, centralizing tracking setup and event triggers.
  • HSTS runs on Netlify — Netlify sets HSTS headers on hosted sites, enforcing HTTPS and protecting traffic.
  • Astro integrates with React — Astro can mount React components as interactive islands, blending static content with dynamic widgets.

How to fix Astro not working

Astro is the managed Apache Airflow service from Astronomer. Your work sits in three places: the Astro web app, where you sign in and manage deployments; the deployments themselves, where your DAGs run; and the Astro command line tool or API you use from your own machine. Find your symptom below. Each list starts with the quickest check.

Jump to what you are seeing

Website Down

The Astro or Astronomer website does not load. Your deployments run separately, so pipelines can keep working while the web app is down.

  1. Try a private window and another network. If it only fails on your company network, a proxy or firewall is the cause.
  2. Check status.astronomer.io for an active incident.
  3. If the web app is down but your pipelines still run, leave them alone and check the status page before changing anything.

DAGs Not Running

Scheduled DAGs do not start, or their tasks stay queued. Airflow's scheduler decides when tasks run, so the cause is usually the DAG file, its schedule or the deployment.

  1. Check the DAG is not paused in the Airflow interface. A paused DAG does not run on its schedule.
  2. Check the DAG's schedule and start date. A start date in the future, or a run that has not reached its next time yet, explains a missing run.
  3. Check the DAG file loads. A syntax error or a failed import stops the scheduler from loading it, and Airflow shows it as an import error.
  4. If every DAG is stuck, check the deployment's health in the Astro web app and the status page. Ask an administrator if you do not have access.

Login Failed

Sign-in to the Astro web app is refused. Your organization may use single sign-on, so the sign-in route matters.

  1. If your organization uses single sign-on, use that route rather than a separate password.
  2. If the message says the credentials are wrong, reset your password and check spam for the email.
  3. Ask your organization owner to confirm your user is still in the organization and has access to the workspace you need.
  4. Try a private window to rule out an old session.

API Down

Calls to the Astro API fail or time out.

  1. Check the status code. A 401 or 403 means the token or its permission is wrong, a 429 means too many calls, and a 5xx means a platform-side problem.
  2. Confirm the API token has not expired or been revoked, and create a new one if needed.
  3. Retry with a growing delay rather than a tight loop.
  4. Check status.astronomer.io if several calls fail together.

Deployment Failed

Pushing a new version of your DAGs to Astro fails. The build log usually shows which step went wrong.

  1. Open the deployment's logs and read the first error. Later errors are often a knock-on effect of the first.
  2. Check that your DAG files have no syntax errors, and that every package in your requirements file is spelled correctly and available.
  3. Check that the Runtime version you deploy matches the version the deployment expects.
  4. Push again after the fix. If the build fails with an error on Astronomer's side, check the status page and contact support.

CLI Error

The Astro command line tool fails or reports an error when you run a command.

  1. Update the Astro CLI to the latest version, since an old one can fail after a platform change.
  2. Run the command again and copy the full error text, not only the last line.
  3. Check that you are logged in to the right organization and workspace from the command line.
  4. If the command builds or deploys an image, check that Docker is running on your machine.

Still not working?

If it still does not work, contact Astronomer support from the Astro web app or through the support option on astronomer.io. Have your organization and deployment names, the exact error and log text, the CLI and Runtime versions, and the time it started with your time zone. Live incident updates are on status.astronomer.io.

Most Airflow pipeline problems come from a schedule setting, a DAG file error or a credential, and they usually clear once that one item is fixed. This page updates live, so you can see when the platform is back.
