How to fix Arista CloudVision not working

Arista CloudVision is a cloud service for managing, monitoring and automating Arista network switches, routers and Wi-Fi. Network engineers and IT teams use it. Find your symptom below. Most problems come from a sign-in, a device that cannot reach the cloud, an API call, an alert rule, or the platform itself.

Jump to what you are seeing

Login Failed

Sign-in is refused. Check you are using the account your network team set up, such as single sign-on.

  1. Use the sign-in route your team set up.
  2. If the message says the password is wrong, reset it and check spam.
  3. Ask your administrator to confirm your user has access to the device containers you manage.

Dashboard Down

The CloudVision dashboard does not load, or it shows an error.

  1. Reload in a private window with extensions turned off.
  2. Check status.arista.io for an active incident.
  3. If the dashboard is down, check the devices still work locally, since the cloud is not needed for the network to run.

Data Not Updating

Telemetry or device status is out of date in the dashboard.

  1. Check the device shows as streaming in the dashboard.
  2. Check the device can reach the cloud service on its outbound connection.
  3. Wait for the next update, then reload the page.

API Error

Calls to the CloudVision API fail or return an error.

  1. Check the status code. A 401 or 403 means the token or permission is wrong, a 429 means too many calls, and a 5xx means a platform-side problem.
  2. Confirm the token has not expired or been revoked.
  3. Retry with a growing delay, and do not push the same configuration twice when you retry.

Device Connectivity

A switch or access point does not connect to the cloud service.

  1. Check the device has power and a working link to the internet.
  2. Check the firewall allows the outbound connection the device uses, and that its DNS works.
  3. Check the device's enrolment token is current, since an old token stops the device joining.
  4. Restart the device once, then check the connection again.

Alerting Issues

An alert does not fire, or a notification is not sent.

  1. Check the alert rule's condition and its schedule.
  2. Check the notification channel is connected and tested.
  3. Check the alert is not muted or paused for that device group.

Still not working?

If it still does not work, contact your network team or your Arista partner first, since they manage devices and access. For a platform-wide problem, contact Arista support through the help option in the platform or on arista.io. Have your organisation name, the device serial number or ID, the exact error text, and the time it started with your time zone. Never send passwords, tokens or device configuration in a support message. Live incident updates are on status.arista.io.

Most cloud network-management problems come from a device that cannot reach the service, a token or an alert setting, and they usually clear once that is corrected. The network itself keeps running while the cloud view is down, and the status page shows live incidents.
