About Aiven & Technical Insights
What this service does and the technologies behind it.
Read the tech stack as text▾
Overview: A developer-first, content-led growth stack: React and Tailwind power a polished marketing surface, Algolia and Qualified turn docs and pages into a self-serve funnel, while Cloudflare and OneTrust keep global delivery fast and compliant.
What stands out
- Aiven mixes React with Marko, suggesting either legacy pages or acquisitions alongside a modern React design system.
- The stack is optimized for self-serve developer acquisition: fast docs search, conversational lead capture, and RUM-backed performance.
- Privacy and compliance tooling (OneTrust) signals an enterprise sales motion for managed data infrastructure.
- Use of Cloudflare Browser Insights and HTTP/3 shows performance is treated as a product differentiator, not just hosting.
Technologies aiven.io uses
- Qualified — Conversational marketing and visitor identification tool, indicating lead capture, sales qualification, and pipeline generation for enterprise data services.
- Tailwind CSS — Utility-first CSS framework drives rapid, consistent styling across marketing and docs, supporting frequent content and design iteration.
- Cloudflare Browser Insights — Real-user monitoring measures performance across a global audience, showing speed and reliability are core to Aiven's developer experience.
- React — Powers interactive UI and possibly console components.
- Cloudflare — CDN, DNS, security, and edge delivery platform.
- jsDelivr — Public CDN serves JavaScript and CSS assets, hinting at open-source distribution or performance-optimized static delivery for docs.
- Marko — eBay's UI framework likely appears on select or legacy pages, hinting at a heterogeneous frontend or acquired properties.
- HeroUI — React UI library likely powers polished marketing or console components, signaling a modern design system for developer-focused product experience.
- Node.js — JavaScript runtime behind tooling or server-side rendering.
- OneTrust — Cookie consent and privacy compliance tool, essential for GDPR/CCPA and building enterprise trust in managed data infrastructure.
- Algolia — Powers fast docs, blog, and site search for a developer audience, reflecting a self-serve content discovery strategy.
- HTTP/3 — Modern protocol for faster edge delivery.
- PHP — Legacy or marketing endpoints still served by PHP.
- HSTS — Forces HTTPS for secure connections.
How these technologies work together
- HeroUI integrates with Tailwind CSS — HeroUI is built on Tailwind CSS, so Aiven can ship consistent React components with utility styling across marketing and docs.
- Cloudflare runs on Cloudflare Browser Insights — Browser Insights runs on Cloudflare's edge, measuring real-user performance for Aiven's globally distributed developer audience.
- HeroUI runs on React — HeroUI runs on React, giving Aiven reusable interactive components for product pages and possibly the console.
- Algolia integrates with React — Algolia's InstantSearch integrates with React to deliver instant docs and blog search for developers evaluating Aiven.
- Cloudflare requires HTTP/3 — Cloudflare enables HTTP/3 delivery, giving Aiven faster, lower-latency connections for global docs and marketing pages.
- React works alongside Tailwind CSS — Tailwind CSS is commonly paired with React, enabling Aiven's teams to build consistent, fast marketing and docs interfaces.
- Algolia works alongside Qualified — Algolia helps visitors find docs and products, while Qualified identifies and converts them, supporting Aiven's self-serve funnel.
- Marko overlaps with React — Marko and React both handle component rendering, suggesting legacy or acquired pages coexist with modern React code.
- Cloudflare Browser Insights works alongside HTTP/3 — Browser Insights measures real-user speed, while HTTP/3 improves delivery—together reinforcing Aiven's performance focus.
- Cloudflare Browser Insights requires OneTrust — OneTrust consent can gate Browser Insights tracking, ensuring Aiven collects real-user data only from compliant visitors.
- Marko runs on Node.js — Marko components render on Node.js, fitting Aiven's JavaScript-based build and server tooling.
- Qualified integrates with React — Qualified's visitor tracking and chat can hook into React pages to identify and convert high-intent data infrastructure buyers.
- jsDelivr runs on Marko — jsDelivr can serve Marko or other npm assets, supporting fast public delivery for Aiven's open-source docs.

How to fix Aiven not working
When an Aiven service is unreachable, it is usually the path to it that has a problem, not the service itself. Check from your side first, then from the platform side. Pick the symptom below; each list moves from the fastest check to the deeper ones.
Jump to what you are seeing
Connection Failed
Your application cannot connect to the service. The common causes are the IP filter, TLS settings or the connection details.
- In the Aiven Console, check the service is in the running state and not rebuilding or powering on.
- Check the service's allowed IP addresses (IP filter): the public IP of the machine or network you connect from must be on the list.
- Copy the host, port, user and password from the service overview in the console to rule out a typo or an old value.
- Every connection is protected by TLS. Some clients need the project CA certificate (for example PostgreSQL with sslmode verify-ca or verify-full, MySQL with VERIFY_CA, or Kafka client-certificate authentication); download it from the service page and point your client at it.
- A client that does not support SSL cannot connect at all, so check your client's documentation. For PostgreSQL, also check you have not hit the maximum number of connections, and use connection pooling if you have.
Console Down
The web console does not load. Your services keep running while the console is unavailable.
- Reload and clear site data for the console, or try a private window.
- Check status.aiven.io for console and API incidents.
- Check your applications are still connected before assuming a service outage.
- Use the API or CLI if it still works for urgent actions.
API Down
Calls to the Aiven API, CLI or Terraform provider fail.
- Look at the status code: 401 or 403 means the token or its permissions are wrong, 5xx means a platform-side problem.
- Check the token has not expired or been revoked, and create a new one if needed.
- Retry with an increasing delay, especially in automation.
- Check the status page if many calls fail at once.
Kafka Issues
Producers or consumers cannot connect, or messages are not flowing.
- Confirm your client authenticates the way the service expects: with the access certificate and key (using the project CA), or with SASL credentials.
- Check the topic exists and that the user has the access rights it needs on that topic.
- Look at consumer lag. A growing lag means consumers are slow or stopped, not that Kafka lost the data.
- A rolling restart or upgrade can briefly cause reconnects. Clients with retries usually recover on their own.
Provisioning Failed
A new service, replica or network did not come up.
- Read the error shown for the service in the console.
- Check the plan, cloud and region you selected are available for your project, and your project limits.
- For private networking, check the address ranges do not overlap with an existing network.
- Try again, or choose a different region or plan, and keep the service name for support.
Login Failed
The console sign-in does not work.
- Check whether your organization uses single sign-on or a second factor, and sign in that way.
- Reset the password and try a private window.
- Ask a project admin to check your access.
- If several people fail at once, check the status page.
Still not working?
If it still fails, contact Aiven support from the console with the project and service name, the exact client error, the time it began and the IP you connect from. Live incident updates are on status.aiven.io.
Aiven services keep backups and are designed to fail over, and many issues turn out to be an IP filter or TLS detail you can fix in a couple of minutes. Platform incidents are typically resolved within hours, and this page shows the live status.
